Shhh darling, I’m reading

But you’ve been reading for hoouurs. Yes, but I have to finish this book today and I have two hundred pages to go so that’s just…..four and a half hours. You’re getting greedy d’you know that? Shhh. Reading comes between us. Shhhhhhhh.

My poor, suffering boyfriend is in bed. I am up reading under a trout-painted lamp. We live in a house by the sea on an outlying island of Hong Kong. We are willing exiles from snap-crackle-and-pop-culture, television and trashy magazines.

I like to learn things and cannot abide people who don’t ask questions. The incurious are the damned. I should really be spending this time reading but I happen to be a writer/journalist/editor, so a blog is more a necessity than a sin of techy time. So I tell myself…

Thank you for reading, P x

i have gained nothing by the enlargement of my world on the contrary i have lost. said henry miller. what you wrote made me think. personally i cant abide people who ask too many questions. i think its something taoist. not that i’m taoist. just that i don’t think the incurious are damned. but predominantly quite the opposite. anyways i’m talking rubbish. nice work with the blog. all the best.
